Wisconsin State Parks: A Complete Recreation Guide

Great Find
This book is very complete and informative. I was only familiar with Gov Dodge SP. After buying this book we planned 2 more camping trips to places we were unfamiliar with!! The details are great. Down to which campsites are shaded, gravel, good for RVs, etc.

Highly recommended!!

Invaluable
Living in WI and doing a lot of camping in state parks, I had been looking for a book like this for years. I actually started collecting all the Park Newspapers and creating my own scrapbook of parks, campsites etc. Then 3 years ago I found this book. WOW is saved me alot of time it has all the info for all the parks inclding campsite descriptions, hunting, hiking, fishing and concessions stand info.

As invaluable to someone recreating in WI as the Wisconsin Gazateer Map!!!

Valuable reference for campers!
This book is a must-have if you plan on camping in any of the Wisconsin State Parks.

Not only does it contain the usual maps and information for each park, but it also has descriptions of the campsites by campsite number! In my opinion, the campsite descriptions alone make the book worth buying.

I frequently make reservations at a campground before I visit a particular park for the first time. In the past I was assigned the next available campsite number and I had no idea what it is like until I arrived at the park. Several times I arrived at the park only to find that my site was quite sloped or too small to put my tent on!

Now, before calling in the reservations I read the book and pick out a few campsites that are level, grassy, and partly shaded (my preference!) and ask for them by number. It makes the entire camping trip so much more enjoyable.

366 Days of Excellence
Published in Paperback by The Institute Press (15 August, 2000)
Author: Paul D. Bailey
Average review score:

Excellence
Paul Bailey does an excellant job of breaking down a very complex process of achieving excellence. Every person, organization and institution that has "excellence" in it's mission statement must read this book. Paul Bailey articulates thought provoking messages everyday that will bring you one day closer to what it takes to achieve excellence.

You'll be glad you spent your time...
366 Days of Excellence is an outstanding book about character and personal growth. Its author, Paul Bailey, speaks to the terrific challenges we all face in our families, jobs, and relationships. The book is founded on Five Pillars of Excellence: Character, Direction, Discipline, Relationships, and Leadership.

The heart of the book is 366 "daily reflections". Based on the Five Pillars, Bailey's reflections are simple (but not easy) lessons for examining the way in which we conduct ourselves. Each serves as a guidepost for achieving personal, team, or organizational improvement. The lessons are effective, common- sense messages; they are an improvement on other "self-help" publications in that they offer straightforward solutions to fundamental problems. They are proof that a book need not be difficult or prolonged to be very, very successful.

The book makes no promises. It only offers a recipe of sorts for what we all want: a better existence. It will challenge you to explore your behavior and define your beliefs. It will be a really good resource for managers and executives; probably a better tool for Mom and Dad.

Bailey Goes Camping

Get ready to pitch that indoor tent!!!
Bailey's older siblings are off on a camping trip, but Bailey's too young to go. What to do? Why, have an indoor camping adventure, of course.

This simple, sweet, warm, loving story will really appeal to younger children. The illustrations are wonderful, the text is straightforward and the situations ring genuinely true. This is the sort of tale that leaves a fond smile on everyone's face. Be advised, however, after reading it you'll likely be looking for an old blanket to thrust into tent duty fot the afternoon!

Do your whole family a favor and go camping with Bailey!

A Wonderful Book for Toddlers
The story of a little brother who is too young to do all the fun things his older brother and sister get to do, so his parents create a special day just for him. The wonderful illustrations and simple story are enough to make any little child love this book. Camping indoors is fun for any age, but especially for a little boy bunny who gets to do all the things his older siblings get to do. Beware! You may have to recreate the fun of camping indoors for any toddler who has this book read to them. Oh well, there are worse things! Great book!

The Blue & Green Ark: An Alphabet for Planet Earth
Published in Hardcover by Scholastic (March, 1900)
Authors: Brian Patten, David Armitage, Sian Bailey, Patrick Benson, Tim Clary, Jason Cockroft, and Helen Ward
Average review score:

The Blue & Green Ark
Our Earth is the Blue and Green Ark adrift in the dark. This alphabet book is poetic, rich in imagry and ideas for conservation, respect for life and the environment. The lyric language, imaginative illustrations and striking juxtaposition of content worthy of further reflection will intrigue most readers and touch many more with a reverence for nature.

English 4-11 Award Winner
Winner of the English Association's English 4-11 Award for the Best Children's Picture Book of 1999 - Non-Fiction Key Stage 2. We considered the scope and imaginative power of this work to be quite exceptional. Brian Patten takes each letter of the alphabet, presented by Sian Bailey as a work of art, in the fashion of the key letter of a medieval manuscript, and explores fascinating aspects of our planet from the origins of the earth to the development of the child in the womb. In free verse and with the help of 11 gifted artists he evokes images of the creatures in the oceans, on land and in the sky, of features of the earth like rain forests and volcanoes, of the planets and the stars in the heavens and of the technological achievements of human beings. This exploration in poetic language of such wide ranging phenomena make the book a wonderful celebration of our world for the new millennium. It also reinforces the notion that non-fiction can make a strong appeal to the imagination and can be the beginning of the reader's further investigation of concepts and topics. Further help here comes in the form of an exceptionally fine glossary with a scholarly flavour. Readers of different ages will be inspired by this highly original and informative book and will return to it again and again.

The Book: In the Beginning

Authors: Mitchell Bailey and Mitchell Bailey aka the Mick
Average review score:

Humor
Although this book is humorous, there is something dark and sinister about this style. It takes a certain intelligence and depth to really get what the author seem to want to say. I think that the insight is more than frightening, but still, very enjoyable reading. Look forward to more along this line. GOOD READ

deep dark humor
This book is gut-busting funny, comparable to 'the Loved Ones', the movie starring Jonathan Winters. Very subtle...most people will have to read it twice...or more. Each time I read it, it gets funnier. Not as slapstick as 'History of the World' with Mel Brooks, but maybe more humorous...a fast, light hearted read. Let's see more from this guy...

An Unjust Inheritance?
Imagine an island paradise off in the Caribbean and a man named William Janhu worth hundreds of billions of dollars. He suddenly dies and there's an incredible inheritance up for grabs. Who inherits? His illegitimate daughter, Jennifer. She gets EVERYTHING. No one else gets a cent. Jennifer is a drop dead gorgeous super-model and they all envy her. Not only is she beautiful, but she's now extremely rich. She can hardly believe it. She grew up among orphans. Now she's a billionairess. William's stepchildren, Bob and Cassandra, are especially outraged. THEY want the inheritance. Sara, who had been William's executive secretary, wants to completely take over the huge and prestigious Janhu Organization. But even THAT is handed over to Jennifer thru the will; she of course knows nothing about running such an organization. This angers Sara to no end.
Then there's Marjorie, William's former girlfriend, who gave him 20 years of her life, only to be completely forgotten in his will as well.

Jennifer falls for Niko, a sexually appealing Spanish playboy, who shatters the prude in her and draws out her sensual side. Then a shocking revelation--Jennifer isn't William's biological daughter! William was sterile; she was really his sister, Frances's, baby. But that doesn't change the fact that Jenny is still the sole legal benefitiary of the will, and the others can cry all they want. A heartwarming meeting between Frances and Jenny (mother and daughter) comcludes this captivating story, as Jenny goes to meet up with the man who genuinely loves her for herself and not her money, Niko.

If you want an easy, strongly plotted, and compelling read about a big inheritance, give this book a try.

Wonderful Read
Wonderful book, rate it up there among the great writers such as Steel, Roberts, Delinsky, and Michaels.Great storytelling and Jennifer Foster, is a character all women have dreamed of. The Janhu's were at their best in this story of wealth and power. A must read and highly recommended. Brenda Bailey, talented author, giving art and creativity of life to the pages of this book, Branded Heart. Outstanding!!

Brothers of the Dragon

A Book to Return To
I was given a copy of this book shortly after it was released in 1993, and I loved it. I am just now (8/5/00) reading it for the third time, and it is as enjoyable now as it was the first two times. As in all heroic fantasy, the climax of the story is readily obvious, but the plot twists involved will keep you guessing about the details. The character development is very good; I can see the brothers Podlowsky in a number of my friends (or is it the other way around?).

E X C E L L E N T !!!!
This is a tale of two Brothers from our world who are transported to a land of magical wonders and dangers, both are skilled martial artists, and survivalists with a range of skills that will save their lives and others that they meet in the strange land of Palenoc. If you like action, dragons and all manner of beasties and ghosts, both evil and not so evil, then this book is for you, pure enjoyment is what Id call it, full of well rounded characters, just the right hint of mystery, and of course its got martial arts, (gotta love that!!!} which means a lot of A-- kicking!!! (A movie please!!!!} So I do hope you sit down and curl up with a cup of something and enjoy the next few hours, you wont regret it.

Call Me Gene
Published in Paperback by Science2Discover (17 December, 1999)
Authors: N. C. Bailey and N. L. Eskeland
Average review score:

A Must to Read Book for All Ages
An excellent and easy to read book about the basic structure of every living organism.I fully enjoyed reading it.It is a great book for anyone who is interested in science and wishes to unlock the secret of life.It is simple and informative.

Great!
Call Me Gene is a nice primer on genetics - both in plants and in humans. The book is very easy to read and contains good exercises for children to practice their new-found knowledge. Drs. Bailey and Eskeland have simplified this sometimes-exotic subject into terms that we all can understand. And the illustrations are simple but informative at the same time. The main subject is the "gene" - DNA and how it provides information for cells and how it replicates itself. But there are also short segments at the end on cloning, genetic testing and its purposes, forensic medicine, and genetic engineering in plants. This is a subject that all children need to learn in order to make wise decisions in the coming years. Segments of the book can be used for very young children, but in general the target is late elementary or middle school. A religious-based alternative book is My Name is Gene by the same authors.
